After waiting more than a year in limbo to join the Travel Writers Association, I began taking pro-action to see why I haven’t been approved or even heard back from the group. After all, I was qualified and unless I had unintentionally offended someone, I couldn’t imagine what was going on — and so I set out on a quest to find out.
Turns out that I wasn’t the only one waiting. The person that was in charge of the organization left without a good-bye, and, the entire group was left flailing and clinging on with no real direction or leadership. And, for better or worse, I have now stepped up, and, I am now the Chairperson for Travel Writers Association. So if you belonged to this group, I am happy to say we’re back in business!
The first thing I did was revamp the logo, and, had a brand new website built.
And yes the LinkedIn group where this all started is still there and we are over 2,500 members strong. However there are a few differences now that I am at the head.
The LinkedIn group will continue to be free, but, this comes with limited privileges. For full membership privileges, you will need to become a paid member with three membership levels ranging from $25 to $125, and, full paid membership includes access to press trips, voting rights, newsletters, and, a few other perks as well.
